I did some testing with a nas that sits on the wan side of my rt-n66u to see the speed difference that hardware acceleration made. i did large file copying to a pc that was on the lan side to the n66u. with hardware acceleration on, i would get speeds that averaged ~65 mb/s (520 mb/s).. The default is to have the hardware acceleration on so you must have changed a option that now forces it to off. worst case reset to factory default and start again.. Surprisingly it was the switch hardware acceleration that was causing the random reboots. turned it off & router didn't reboot for 8hrs when i last checked. probably isp reconfigured the ont and made some changes that broke hardware acceleration support on the n66u?.
I have the asus rt-n66u router and it has the latest asus 3.0.0.4.380_7378 firmware.my question is do i need to install an older version of dd wrt via recovery tool and then flash a newer version or am i ok to flash latest version via utility. Asus rt-n56u or hardware nat acceleration. introduction. external design and hardware. firmware upgrade. web-interface review. utilities. command line interface review. testing. conclusion. introduction. soho-segment routers with gb lan and even wan interfaces are no longer a wonder.. This means asuswrt-merlin retains full support for nat acceleration (sometimes referred to as "hardware acceleration"), enhanced ntfs performance (through the proprietary drivers used by asus from either paragon or tuxera), and the asus exclusive features such as aicloud or the trend micro-powered aiprotection..
